If you have active water coming through your ceiling right now, stop reading and call 587-804-9266. We’ll triage on the phone and dispatch a truck. If you have a few minutes, the checklist below is what to do in the next 10 minutes to limit damage.

First 10 minutes — protect the inside of your house
- 01Move belongings out from under the drip. Furniture, electronics, area rugs, valuables.
- 02Put a 5-gallon bucket under the leak. Towel in the bottom muffles the drip.
- 03If the ceiling is bulging, poke a hole in the bulge with a screwdriver. Counter-intuitive but correct — releases pooled water cleanly. If you don’t, the bulge will eventually burst and take down a large drywall section.
- 04Photograph everything. Source, path, affected room — you may need this for insurance.
- 05Turn off electricity to the affected room if water is near light fixtures or outlets.
- 06Call us at 587-804-9266. Don’t climb the roof yourself — Calgary roofs in rain or snow are dangerous even for trained crews with harnesses.
