We make our ads, social posts and new site images in Overs, and the AI fees per usable image run from 27 cents to $1.69. Two things set that number: how many tries it takes to get a keeper, and which image model makes the final picture. Below is the math for both, a 30-image set priced three ways and what the math leaves out. Overs is made by our owner, Abhi Chawla, so check every figure here against your own plan screen.

01 · Section

Every usable image costs several tries

An image model draws a new picture every time, and some come out wrong: a shingle row that drifts, a ladder that ends in mid-air, lettering that turns to mush. So the unit you pay for is the try. In four 2026 campaigns that 100 Creatives, our owner’s agency, built by hand with AI image models, 361 renders gave 45 usable photos. That’s about 8 tries per keeper on average, about 3 on the easiest job and about 14 on the hardest. Budget for the average and expect the range.

Cost per usable image, by model

These use 8 tries per keeper and each provider’s published price per render in September 2026, as used in Overs.

  • 01Nano Banana 2 Lite (Google). $0.034 a render, about $0.27 per usable image. The fastest and cheapest, good for testing ideas.
  • 02Nano Banana 2 (Google). $0.067 a render at 1K, about $0.54 per usable image. The default in Overs.
  • 03Nano Banana Pro (Google). $0.134 a render, about $1.07 per usable image. The best of these at fine detail and matching references.
  • 04GPT Image 2 at high quality (OpenAI). $0.211 a render, about $1.69 per usable image. Often better at text, fabric and bright studio light.

A 30-image set, priced three ways

Overs’ guide to what a product photo shoot costs priced a 30-photo set, 10 of them with a model, at $2,026 at soona’s per-photo prices and $13,790 with a hired crew for one day, before the usage licence, producer, props and catering. Those prices were checked on September 24, 2026. Here is the same 30 made in Overs.

  • 01Low, about $36. 3 tries per image on Nano Banana 2 is 90 renders at $0.067, or $6.03, plus $29 for a month of Pro and $0.60 of planning across three runs.
  • 02Typical, about $46. 8 tries per image on Nano Banana 2 is 240 renders, or $16.08, plus the same $29.60.
  • 03High, about $118. 14 tries per image on GPT Image 2 at high quality is 420 renders at $0.211, or $88.62, plus $29.60.

The assumptions behind those numbers

The math uses Pro because 30 keepers at several tries each go past the free plan’s 40 photos a month. The set runs as three batches of 10, and each batch carries about 20 cents of planning. Even the high case is under 6% of the studio price and under 1% of the crew.

The studio and crew figures are product-photo prices, the closest published benchmark we have. A local photographer shooting your crew on a real roof is a different job with its own quote.

05 · Section

What the math leaves out

Four things sit outside those totals.

  • 01Review time. At 8 tries per keeper, someone looks at about 240 images to pick 30. Overs lets you approve, change or reject each one with a reason, and on Pro a reviewer checks each image against the references before you see it. A person still makes the final call.
  • 02The card fee. OpenRouter charges 5.5%, with a $0.80 minimum, when you buy credits by card. On the high case’s $89 of AI fees, that’s about $5.
  • 03An OpenRouter account. Overs runs on your own OpenRouter key, so you need an account with some credit before you make anything. Overs adds no markup, and the key stays on the device where you typed it.
  • 04The pictures AI can’t replace. Anything a homeowner will read as proof has to be real: your team, your trucks, finished jobs and before-and-afters. See what a contractor should never fake with AI.

What the Overs plans cost

Plans are in US dollars, and the AI model costs are separate on every plan.

  • 01Free, $0. 40 photos a month, 1 brand, 1 seat.
  • 02Pro, $29 a month. Unlimited photos, 3 brands and 1 seat, plus the reviewer and a weekly Brand Watch, which reads your recent Instagram posts so the look stays current.
  • 03Team, $99 a month. Unlimited photos, 10 brands and 5 seats, plus the reviewer and a daily Brand Watch. An extra brand on Pro or Team is $10 a month.

Why we run our images this way

We make our images in Overs, and our owner credits it with a big part of how fast Good Roofing has grown. In his words, we make “lots” of images with it now. Overs is made by our owner, Abhi Chawla, so weigh the recommendation with that in mind and start on the free plan. Our write-up on how we make our marketing images shows the process.
